Three Common Mistakes for Brushing Teeth

Posted .

Do you visit the dentist frequently, brush and floss daily, and even eat healthy foods? Do you ever wonder what else you can do to protect your smile? Fortunately, there are a few things you can do—and a few things you should watch out for—when it comes to brushing your teeth. To help you protect your smile, we’re pleased to offer you three ideas things to consider when brushing your teeth.

  1. You should brush at least twice a day, though three times a day might be better. However, brushing more than three times a day may be too much. Excessive or overly-vigorous brushing can damage your gums and enamel. Also, remember to brush for two minutes at a time.
  2. Oral hygiene starts with treating your toothbrush right. We recommend a toothbrush with soft bristles that will also allow for easy maneuverability. Also, please rinse your toothbrush after each use, keep it upright in an open space, and buy a new toothbrush every three months.
  3. People usually start brushing the same tooth every time, but if you do this you could be unintentionally neglecting certain teeth. To make sure that each toothbrush gets enough time, we advise starting on a different section of your smile each time you brush.
